WEEK 13-15 Final Illustrations
The time has come to wrap up our project for this semester. I wish we had more time to really delve into the overall visual world of this project. And I understand that many of you are in a crunch for your other projects in your more important courses.

Those who I've assigned character illo's, you can post them if you wish, however if you have not gotten to them fully I do not want you to try to cram them in during this week. We won't have time for the environment concepts during these  last two weeks as well, so I want each of you to do two full color tight illustrations depicting a scene in this story. I have listed the overall "quick" story scene outline. The ones in green are mandatory scenes that must be illustrated because once completed, they will give a pretty good overview of the story as we pitch it to "venture capital investors" ( a couple faculty) for our final exam. A student name will be assigned to each "green" scene. The scenes not in green can be illustrated in addition to your assigned illos and extra credit will be awarded to you if you have time to do them. But they are not mandatory therefore will not have any names assigned to them.

(Michelle Pecoraro, since you are interested in storyboarding, you can substitute doing rough - yet modestly detailed  -B/W storyboards in photoshop of the entire outline. You can do those in place of doing two tight illustrations. For the storyboards, I don't expect anything tight or too time consuming...So just do clear concise - yet still loose - boards in Photoshop.)

VISUAL STORY OUTLINE:


-The Dweller Fighters and Noble Army standoff. The Noble Army trumps the Dweller Army ten to one.

-Noble Army charges the fleeing Dwellers in battle. General Vaughn and Commander Dayne lead the charge.

-Empress Uzertia laughs in victory as she oversees the lopsided battle between her mighty Noble Army and the feeble Dweller Fighters. She is sitting on a Noble “horse” atop a hill. - Beau Bateman 1


-Pellan standing in front of the train station alone and ignored by Mikey and his friends as they skate around the abandoned station.

-Pellan standing in front of Lucky’s abandoned train-car house

-Pellan finding the Onyx puzzle ball inside Lucky’s abandoned train-car house...Lucky is sleeping. - Megan Noble 1


- Lucky wakes up chasing Pellan out of the train–car. 

-Pellan in his classroom one day - holding up his show-and-tell item (the "Ancient" Onyx puzzle ball)

-Pellan is in his and Mikey’s room sitting on his bed figuring out the puzzle ball. Mikey is playing a guitar with headphones on paying Pellan no attention.

-Pellan solves the puzzle ball – a portal opens as Pellan and Mikey are startled by it.

-Mikey tries to save Pellan from being sucked into the Onyx portal.

-Pellan stands in his pajamas in the middle of an enchanted Dweller Temple of the Universe where an Onyx portal chamber is. - Marcos Gomez 1



-Mikey’s parents burst in Pellan and Mikey’s room to find Mikey crying in the “wake” of the portal mess throughout the room.

-Two large Noble Terranians emerge from the ceiling through a portal in Mikey’s room as they take him. Megan Noble 2



-Mikey stands in awe in his bedclothes – in front of Empress Uzertia and her husband Zann. Uzertia is in the foreground as she greets Mikey at her thrownroom. - Marcos Gomez 2


-Mikey is dressed in Noble garb by Noble servants as Uzeria supervises the “tailoring.”


-Mikey is holding a weapon being trained for battle by General Vaughn and Commander Dayne. There is an attack dummy of Pellan as General Vaughn demonstrates an attack on it. - Beau Bateman 2


- Mikey looks saddened and angered by General Vaughn.

-Mikey kills General Vaughn and Commander Dayne. - Cody Claasen 1


-Mikey is chained, kneeled in front of an angry Uzertia who motions for the executioner to kill him with a ceremonial axe. - Ryan Gates 1
 
- Mikey escapes execution riding a beast away from the city as Noble army chase after him. His broken chains are dangling from his handcuffs. 

-Mikey walks through the snowy mountains alone, freezing, starving. His beast has froze to death (Star Wars Planet Hoth Taun-Taun style) Michelle Guse 1


-Mikey stand on the edge of the scraggly Bridge of Fate looking at the distant Crathunian hanging Monestary.

-Mikey walks the Bridge of Fate high above a dragon cavern is below him. He is scared to death.

-Mikey falls from the Bridge because of a broken wood plank he stepped on.
-Mikey is rescued by a Dragon.

-Mikey is flown by the Dragon to the Monestery.

-A weak, shivering Mikey stands in front of Master Rolaarus and several Monks who are all meditating in the Temple. - Zachary Hartlage 1


- Mikey is nursed back to health.

-Mikey shows a couple Dwellers a small picture of Pellan as they look at the picture and bow to it.  He looks shocked at their sudden posture. Ryan Gates 2

-Mikey is greeted by Aaklanna and Klypsos – the elder statesmen of the Dwellers.

Those in green ( with 1 and 2 after your name) are your mandatory final illustration assignments. We're down to the last two weeks so lets make these count for our final project presentation.

I will be basing most of your grades on the quality of the final two pieces. (And the storytelling clarity of your concept storyboards - Michelle :-)

WEEK 8

Because I feel you are pretty strong in Character design -- For the next few weeks the four of you will give one final look to the characters the way YOU would like them to look. (Except Uzertia and Master Rolaarus - they are final) I encourage you to use the artwork the other artists have done so far as your conceptual guide and "inspiration"

Narrow down color combination for assigned characters to three different color combos.

WEEK 5
Refine the characters, only this time in photoshop start to apply color sketches of them. Use as many different combos as you can think of. Post your images in the "concept art" page under your b/w concepts.

WEEK 4

For this week (week 4) we will begin refining our characters. Before refining your assigned characters, I want you to spend the next two days roughing them out in "alien" form. I want to see more variety when it comes to the inhabitants of "Terra." The Earth inhabitants should be of different ethnicity including the two brothers and their parents. Any questions or comments feel free to add in the "comments" box below. :-)
